TRAUMA

Injuries to the foot and ankle are common.  Sometimes the first diagnosis is incorrect or incomplete and a foot and ankle specialist is required to clarify the problem and advise about treatment.

Injuries may be from sport, work or at home. Foot and Ankle Surgery involves the diagnosis and treatment of these injuries.  Often there is a combination of ligament, tendon, joint and bone injuries.

After finding out what happened at the time of the injury and carrying out an examination, the diagnosis usually involves an X Ray, CT or MRI scan.

Fractures or 'breaks' are sometimes treated in a boot or cast.  If the fracture requires to be re-aligned and / or held in position surgery may be needed.

Dr Hope has a wide range of experience in all types of surgery for fracture and trauma management of the foot and ankle.
